Biography

• (PhD, 2001). He received the Master degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Tampere University of Technology in 1980 and the Licentiate degree in Electromechanics from Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) in 1991 and Doctor of Science in Technology degree in Electrical and Automation Engineering from HUT in 2001.
• He has participated in numerous international and domestic projects and worked as project manager at VTT among others in the following project: EU-ADDRESS (Active Distribution Network with full integration of Demand and distributed energy REsourceS, 2009-2013), IEA Enard ANNEX III (2008-2009), ELECTRA IPR (2013-2017) WP6 leader, EERA SG JP SP 4 (European Energy Research Alliance, Smart Grids Joint Program, Sub-program 4) leader and domestic SGEM (Smart Grids and Energy Markets) project (2009-2015).
• His main areas of interests are smart grids, distribution automation, network protection and fault location in electricity networks, distributed energy resources and its network connection, reliability and security engineering. He is author of 135 scientific publications and of 3 patents.

Biography

• Frede Blaabjerg is currently a Professor with the Department of Energy Technology and the Director of Center of Reliable Power Electronics (CORPE), Aalborg University, Denmark.
• He was a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Power Electronics Society from 2005 to 2007 and for the IEEE Industry Applications Society from 2010 to 2011.
• Dr. Blaabjerg received the IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Award in 2014, the IEEE PELS Distinguished Service Award in 2009, the Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award in 1998, and 15 IEEE Prize Paper Awards.
• He served the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics from 2006 to 2012.
• He is nominated in 2014 by Thomson Reuters to be between the most 250 cited researchers in Engineering in the world.
